Hey, there! I'm Sydney, an American expat living in Israel. Although I've had a license for medical cannabis since 2006, it wasn't until recently that I learned just how much knowing about one's strains can make a difference in their user experience.
I am all about finding new ways to combine my love for education and the world around me, so when I saw how little information is provided by Israeli pharmacies to their clients, I saw a place for content to happen.
The cannabis reviews in Israel are limited because, um, not all speech is protected here. Or rather, speech when it comes to affecting other people's business isn't protected. For example, if you leave a negative review on Yelp in the US, no big deal. People are entitled to their opinion. If you were to do the same in Israel, that business owner would be able to hold you liable for your review if they saw a downtick in profit and could connect it directly to you.
So why am I putting my neck out there? Because I'm not planning on dealing with the negative. I want to let people know about the smell, the taste, the makeup of the strains, etc.
Because I'm doing this for me. I want to be able to see how much thought I put into my cannabis use. I grew up in the era of DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and "Just say, 'No.'" Because to this day I still feel the need to prove to myself that I'm not abusing the drug, I'm using it for its medicinal properties.
Please note that I am using legal strains that I have purchased as a public medicinal marijuana user in Israel. I have not received any compensation for what I am writing, but if I do, I will dutifully report it.
